Thank you very much to all conference participants.

The Conference on the bio-gasification (biogas generation) of by-products remaining in slaughterhouses and processing plants for meat and poultry took place in Jastrzębie near Drzycim on 19-09-2018.

Mrs. Sylwia Koch-Kopyszko – President of the Union of Producers and Employers of the Biogas Industry and Mr. Wiesław Różański – President of the Union of Producers and Employers of the Meat Industry participated in the Conference, next to the representatives of various companies. Thanks to them participants had the opportunity to become acquainted with the current government work, the most current and processed regulations having a fundamental impact on the biogas industry.

The discussion emphasized the importance of the processing of post-production by-products, their energetic importance for the production process itself and, consequently, its profitability. Their values as a substrate for biogas generation were discussed by DSc. Eng. Marcin Zielinski (associate professor at University of Warmia and Mazury) and MSc. Marek Barys (chief process engineer) at TARPOL Ltd.

The exchange of opinions and the presentation of an example of the implementation of bio-gasification of by-products in meat processing company confirms the legitimacy of such investment. All of the biogas produced can be directed to the plant’s boiler room, securing heating needs related to heating the plant and production of boiling water and process steam or for cogeneration in order to generate electricity and heat.

According to the simulation this type of investment returns after 3-4 years of operation. As in the visited plant, the problem of waste utilization was completely eliminated and the digestate obtained after the bio-gasification turned out to be an excellent fertilizer, that is received and use by local farmers.

And what was predictable – IT HAS BECOME! We have a fantastic fourth generation biogas plant !!

During the meeting, an innovative biogas technology, S-MBP (Self-Mixing Biogas Plant) was presented. This is the effect of several years of work, which was conducted by TARPOL Ltd. and it is registered in the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.

The revelation of this technology is that the work of the bioreactor does not require any external drives and the use of energy to mix the substrate inside it. The whole mass inside is mixed using the evolved biogas.

As a result, this makes savings and increases the efficiency of biogas plants by dozen or so percent. What’s more, the specifics of mixing additionally causes self-cleaning of biogas and, thanks to this, great production effects varying from 75-80% of pure methane!

The participants’ interest was very large, especially during the visit of the existing installation. The authors of the invention responded to many questions, showing their work effect. It was the first official presentation of the effectiveness of this technology. Already at the conference, three biogas plant projects in the S-MBP technology were initially agreed!
